Hey guys!

Do we have to include a timeline in our package?

For example,

sponsor timeline
applicant timeline
relationship timeline

If so, what format have people used? is it simply:

december 2011
we first met

january 2011
we went on holiday here

etc etc

how is it meant to look?

thankyou!

Hi Gary_87

The timeline is set up however you want. I went by date and the activity and any significant details that happened then. I tried to capture the development of our relationship by highlighting the important things and not accounting for every date.

Details like? I said the event or trip and important details. For example the date and that my hubby proposed and how. For trips i gave highlights of things we did or saw

such as:

jan 11
I moved to canada

aug 11
started dating

oct 11
went to seattle

etc etc etc or will they want more than this?

thanks!

My husband and I sent two versions of timelines. One was brief with dates and corresponding activities (e.g when my husband first came to my country, going to the movies, meeting family and friends, traveled to various places, engagement and wedding etc). In the other document the dates and corresponding activities were explained in details. The second one had the flow of a story. Took time doing it but like always, better having too much than too little. No detail is too small.

Drappyy that is a great idea and I guess I did the same in the part I wrote up that discussed what I had included in the timeline!

Gary, take what ideas you like and make it your own. Make it represent your relationship and use what is important to prove the genuiness of your relationship!!! Good luck!!

We didn't send any type of timeline. The dates we first met online, in person, got engaged, got married, and started living together were all addressed on the application, so I felt it was sufficient. I feel our application is pretty straightforward - after months on this forum, I've seen enough to make me feel very confident. :)

Just a suggestion - if you have cards you've given each other, make copies and include some. They're heartfelt and sentimental, plus they follow your relationship as it grows, so the VO can see that. (Well, at least if you put them in order! :P)

we don't have cards but I have always written her letters. well no doubt send copies of them.

thanks for the help guys. I thonk well probably include one timeline of our relationship. 3 may not be needed!

Where in the application does it say to state a timeline? Are you referring when they ask you to describe how the relationship developed?

I think its just something extra you can include? Its one way of showing the relationship.

I'm going to include an itemised one and then also a relationship letter stating how our relationship developed and explaining certain points of the timeline (such as when we moved in together, where we've been, how we met etc).

There's no harm having it. The more stuff the better right?
