Hello everyone,

I'm a permanent resident and I spent some time in Canada, but I left for 1 year and 8 months during COVID-19 and couldn't go back for personal/family reasons.

Now, I'm going back to Canada, but I would like to know if the time I spent in Canada previously would still be counted towards my time there, or are these days gone and not counted(out of the 1,095 days needed for citizenship)?

Please can anyone help me out? Much appreciated!

Thank you!

The time you spent previously in Canada is counted as long as it falls within the five year period before you apply.

Thank you for replying.

Even though I have been away for 1 year and 8 months? How sure are you of this? Because I was just informed by someone that if I leave Canada for more than 6 months any time spent there previously will not be counted.
