Time period allowed

Sorry to ask some very basic questions but I am totally new to the process and so want to get these clarifications -

1. Once the visa is stamped in my passport, what time frame is given to enter Canada (validity of the visa) ?
2. After entering, can one immediately (say within a week) come out of the country ?
3. What is the minimum staying required to the visa valid (if someone wants another couple of years before finally settling down in Canada) ?

1. Expiry date is written on the visa. You must land before that. It corresponds with the date of your medical.
2. Yes
3. You must live in Canada for 2 out of 5 years in order to maintain your permanent residency. So if you landed and then left for 3 years, you could come back and settle here but would not be able to leave again for the remaining 2 years.

Don't forget the provision whereby if the PR is accompanying a Canadian citizen abroad, the PR can count those days toward the PR quota of 730 days.
