Time gap between two programs

Dear all, I have the following questions I really hope you can help me with. I am an international student and I would like to study in Canada. If I have got a student visa for a 2-year dip program that starts next Jan 2019 but after I go to Canada, I would like to change my program to a different 2-year dip program in the same college but starts in May 2019.

1/ What will happen?
3/ Will it affect my visa and study permit? How will it affect them?
2/ What do I do in the time gap? Am I allowed to work?

Well I will answer the straight forward one, under no circumstances can you work until you start your course in May 2019.
