Hello friends!

I wonder if someone can guide me here.

I got a call for interview on 8th May 2013 and the interview went absolutely fine. The Interview Officer advised me that he is 100% satisfied with the relationship and he approves the application. Although at that point in time he didn't keep my passport and informed that security/background check will follow and then I will get an email from them later to bring the passport.

I applied from London office in Sep 2012, however I hold a Pakistani passport and I am in London for studies from last 2 years on student visa. My Husband is in Canada (obviously). I understand that they might have to get security/background checks from London as well as my home country.

I was wondering if someone can tell me how long would that take in my situation??

Thanks in advance if you can reply and help :)

Sabrina

Be patient. You only posted it 25 minutes before you asked for help again. Some people aren't on here 24/7.

Now from my understanding, it can take up to 2 months, but usually it's a little less than that. It would be a good idea to ask in the London thread.

Hi Parker,

Thanks and I didn't mean any offence.... everyone here is worried about their application. There is no need to be hyper about if I asked for help within 25 mins.

Thank you for your reply again.

backround checks can take 3- 6 months , this is the advise i got from our visa officer, hope to be really fast because that waiting time is killing you .
good luck

Oh thank you.... any word of advise means a lot.

for me it took about 6 months from the day of the interview (also went perfect)

all because of the backround checks.. but yesterday my passport request finally arrived! best of luck!

I wasn't being hyper, just trying to calm your fears a little, I understand the worries :)

I'm with you on this one, posting 25 minutes after the initial thread post is a no no, on any forum. You concern was valid.

Oh course I understand the situation the OP is in, hyper and worried about what is going to happen next.

Also, there is a strike at the London office?

London Office processing is 10 months, they do try to meet their deadlines, and for you that would be July?

Now sabrina, I would suggest going through ATIP to get your GCMS notes, to see if what the office told you is what he wrote down in your file. Also, in those notes, there will be a deadline by which they will try to have the case done.

Thanks akoika for your reply.... yes there is a strike in London office so processes are already delayed.

ATIP.... expain please...????

ATIP refers to the Access to Information and Privacy Act.

It is the hallmark of Canadian Democracy, ensuring that the government is responsible towards it's citizens.

You can request any communication and any written notes by Visa Officers related to your file. It takes up to a month to receive all the information back. It can be done online, and costs 5$.
You will need to sign a form authorizing your husband to request all information related to you, and he will have to be the one who makes the request, because only a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident can benefit from the ATIP act.

Please see: http : // www . cic . gc . ca /english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp
Not sure why I can't post normal links... I have seen others do it.
