Hi everyone,
I hope you can help me with this. My wife(principal applicant) applied for a study permit and I applied to accompany her on an open work permit. We have lived in Jamaica for the past three and a half years but we do not own any real estate. I am South African and will inherit my parent`s real estate property. Will this help in establishing ties outside of Canada? Also, what else could we use to show ties?

If your parents have lands or houses in SA, then that is one big tie, moreover I hope your parents live there in SA, that's another tie.

Additionally if your could show some property, or business, or share/stock bought in your name in SA, that would be helpful.

Regards.

Thanks Solid Snake, this is encouraging and very helpful. Would it affect the application if we took a loan against the property to pay the fees and other expenses?

Also, I have a solid job offer from a reputable company in one of the provinces in Canada - in addition as we are taking both our children with us, one of them is my step daughter and she is a Canadian citizen.....I've been to Canada on a 2yr Work Permit and I only worked 2weeks for the employer because they did not comply with LMO rules so I left the job and came back to my family within 3 weeks....and when I reported the matter to the Canadian Authorities my 2yr visa was canceled...and they wrote CWOP on it - How will these affect our chances of getting through???

Taking loan by mortgaging property won't be a problem.

The second question is beyond my capability, please ask it in the "skilled workers" section of this forum.

Regards :)

Well in terms of business, my wife and I had a business here in Jamaica and because we are planning to go to Canada we recently had to shut it down but we still have licensing required for it which expires in 2013...as for my skill I have been free lancing because what I do is construction work really...will this help?

Business in Jamaica won't help, coz its not a home tie.

Regards :)

Can you show a letter that you are getting study break as sabbatical? I mean, after your study in Canada you will be able to join your old company? That would be nice :)

My wife has applied for a study leave actually and is waiting for it to come through next week - for me now, as I've been self employed here what will I need to show? :-[

Warmest regards

Then let her get the study leave and show those papers, while you show your earning source in Jamaica, that would be fine. Moreover mention that you have properties in SA and business in Jamaica and have proper earning source, that would be fine I guess.

Good luck :)

Thank you snake...Another thing now - the financial sponsor/the mortgage - well the loan has been approved and the mortgage company has issued a letter in that respect.....the letter confirms that the loan has been approved and that my dad should just come in and sign - also goes on like the monies will be paid to us on our Canadian acc. once we're in Canada.....We're trying to get it paid out either to us or my fathers acc. still because that is just a piece of paper.......Or will it be convincing enough to the immigration officer???

Its a useful paper, coz you are mortgaging property and getting money to finance your wife's education, makes sense. So i guess you should include the paper too.

Regards man.

Man are u sure??? I am worried about it and I can't wait until tuesday and have it sorted out - I'll be happy if was in a form of bank statement already....

Bank statement shows that you have liquid money to support the tuition. but that mortgage paper will show the source of income. So i guess both are needed :)
