Starting a new thread for those of us that have just applied. Good luck to everyone

should have started this with some humour as this will definetly be a fun thread

There was a little boy who had just learned to count on his fingers. One day his uncle came to visit and the boy was anxious to show off his newly acquired skill. He told the uncle to ask him and addition question. So they uncle asked, "What is three plus four?" The little boy counts it out on his fingers and said, "Seven." The uncle said, "Listen kid, you cant count it out on your hands because someday when you are in school, a teacher will get mad at you for it. Now put your hands in your pockets." So the little boy put his hands in his pockets and his uncle asked, "What is five plus five?" The uncle saw movement in the boys pockets, then the boy said, "Eleven."

I'm curious, cdarroch, when did you originally send your app and when did you see it in e-CAS as received?

I didnt check ecas but i checked the tracking number on canada post site and i saw that our application been delivered and some person there signed that its received :)

It was sent on February 2nd, and I got the confirmation that it was received (from Canada Post) early on the morning of the 5th. so far, there's nothing on ecas, because they're apparently only processing applications received up to Dec. 31 2009.

...does it not count as "received" until ecas is updated (the application is opened)? :O

I sent mine and was received (according to Canada Post) on Dec 14. But I called last week and they said they were only opening apps received up until nov 13. I also can't log into e-CAS. Maybe mine will be soon?

To tell you the truth, I'm not quite sure what "recevied" would mean. I just was under the impression that they somehow have to enter these apps into the system in order for you to be able to view it on e-CAS. I haven't been able to log into e-CAS and when I called last week, the rep ran a search for me, confirmed that indeed it was not yet in the system, and then said that they were only "opening" apps received up until nov 13. So maybe they are "received" when they are signed for, then they sit in a pile until they are "opened", then entered into the e-CAS. This is entirely just a theory. Anyway, maybe I'll have better info when I can finally log in.

Hi Guys,

Thought I would help answer your question.

While you application was recieved on a certain date - eg Feb 2, it will not be entered into e-cas until the application is opened, which according to the CIC site is about 36 days, and they are currently opening applications from Dec 31 - you can keep a look out here -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp The dates on the website are updated every Tuesday, but the dates on e-cas can be updated at any time.

Waiting to see that they have your application is the most nerve racking experience of the process... but keep an eye on that date and give them up to a week after you fall into the time frame to update it. My app went in on the 25th of November, I didnt see a single thing on e-cas until Christmas Eve though our processing date was up there about a week before.

When it is updated on e-cas it will read something like this...

We received your application to sponsor XXXX XXX XXXXXXXX on November 25, 2009.

We started processing your application on December 22, 2009.

We sent you a letter on December 22, 2009 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Best of luck and I know it sounds hard, but patience is the best medicine.

Hi fallenstar831,

Thanks so much for your encouragement. It's definitely so nice to have that every once in a while during this process :) Asta and I are actually applied inland, so the CIC is only processing up until July 31st for those (vegreville, AB location). I just wasn't sure if I might see mine in e-CAS before they get to December, as I have heard that other applicants applying inland have been able to see when their apps was received and started processing, way before their date had come up.
