I was approved to sponsor my husband in December 2010...then January 19, 2011 my husbands application was received in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia...we got a letter saying that it would take an average of 6months to process and it also said that if we did not hear from them by March 19, 2011 then we should contact them directly which we did and did not get a response from them!!! July 19, 2011 hit exactly 6 months and the only update to our application was that they began processing our file on July 4th and that my husbands medical exam was received...

we also sent them an email saying that the time line of 6months has already passed and we have not heard anything from them...based on experiences does anyone know roughly how much longer it could take??

I would appreciate any input..

Thanks!!!

Remember they sad the 6 months was an average. That means some take longer, some take less time. You are close, especially since you are at In process with medicals received. Be patient a bit longer, most of the wait is behind you now.

Except that the processing time for KL is 13 months for 80% of spousal applications. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp#asia

Hope you received it soon and definitely before the average 13 months as stated. Do keep us updated. I will go the KL route soon as well.

I understand the 13 months, but when I sent the application it said 11 months. Also, on the website for the Canadian embassy in Malaysia it says family class is 4-6 months....

Its really puzzling how it works. My friend had hers processed within 4 months and that was last year. Mine will be sent there to be processed :(

There is always one thing to hold on to - which is the date of the MEDICAL TESTS

The test result is valid for only 1 year and an approved applicant must make an entry in to Canada before its expiry. I am sure they will get back to you soon.

After I had sent my complete docs to KL office, they asked for medical test within 45 days - this is pretty quick I felt. However, I am not able to assess their time line after medicals - coz, I did my medicals in June 2011 - but I was asked to do further tests and the same have gone in Sep 2011 - so I am not sure when would the PPR be.

So, hold on - keep the forum posted on the updates from your side
