Isn't it the truth. Where in Canada are you?

Very frustrating. Especailly those VO's with long waiting times!

It's funny how so many of these marriage-for-immigration scam rings seem to involve people from China... yet the Beijing visa office has one of the fastest processing times in the world!

And let me guess, a high approval rate?

Yes, 90% for spouse/partner class. 1,912 people passed... 205 rejected, over latest 12-month stats.

$35,000 won't cover the 3 years of social assistance either if the fake spouse decides to sponge off the government instead of work!

Then the rest of us with the long wait times... what a world I say!

Jeez.

Some people.

They need to start investigating and auditing VOs as well. Who's to say they don't have insiders. Start checking approval rates, frequency of MoC originating from same officer, etc etc... Other (government) agencies around the world are exposed from time to time that show they have bad apples in their system, so I doubt that all VOs are "clean".

Agreed 100%

+1

Although, it would take even more resources so could potentially affect wait times. Aside from that, some VO auditing makes a lot of sense.

Most of these are in Southern China and go through Hong Kong. Lived in China for the past ten years and let me tell you, ou can buy anything fake here. From bags to eggs.

What's a fake egg?

In that case, HK office is right at the average for processing times, and only has a 79% approval rate for spouse/partner class. So perhaps they are actually doing a decent job of weeding out the frauds.
