A temporary foreign worker client ( career office) is on a closed work permit and the business closed down recently b/c covid. They still have 1 year left on the permit and are currently not working. However they have a common law partner on a open work permit who is working adn they have both applied as a couple ( using an immigration lawyer) for permanent residency ( still waiting after 18 months). What are her options , or rather best options, for finding other work or getting an open work permit ?
  1. Option 1 I believe there is a new expeditated LMI process of 10 days for TFWs who need a new employer and new closed permit due to covid job loss?
  2. I believe she "could" have applied for a open work permit as part of the PR process but has not submitted that as yet. She can still do that however if there is 6+ months of time left? then she has implied status...but as a TFW on closed permit, not a open permit?
  3. due to her job loss or PR or partners open permit is there anyway for her to apply for an open work permit?
its seems like there is clear option # 1 based on the IRCC info on what do do as a TFW closed permit holder during covid...but I am unsure how the other PR and partner situations may impact her and give her other choices? Also does her current lack of work negatively impact her PR application

4. lastly _ I am wondering if they can apply for more than one PR type program at a time. The applied with there lawyer before COVID under the skilled worker PR I believe. but the partners current employer may be willing to do PNP? can they apply to both?
