I am a US citizen living in Texas, my wife is a Canadian citizen with a US green card. we have a infant son (US citizen).
We are planning to go to Calgary to visit my wife family on July 10th.
We are both fully vaccinated months ago.
We plan on staying for a month.
Will I as a foreign US citizen need to quarantine in a hotel for 3 days alone??

I believe you will not need to quarantine as fully-vaccinated spouse of a Canadian citizen (assuming you got vaccinated with the vaccines that are also 'approved' or used in Canada). Do check and read the regs carefully though in advance.

Given your unvaccinated child you will need to quarantine in a separate area of a home like a basement or an airbnb for 14 days but don't need to do hotel quarantine.

Myself, being from Alberta, and based on recent personal experience, I am not sure how strict the officials are in Alberta. My GF arrived in Vancouver from Indonesia, spent 24 hours in the quarantine hotel before receiving her negative airport test results, then proceeded to Edmonton. I picked her up at the airport and went home. This was on June 25. Only on July 1 did anyone come to my home to verify that she was home. The federal screening officer did not question our living arrangement and he was not wearing a mask. I suspect he came by only because it was Canada Day, and the day most would be tempted to leave. We received no other visits or phone calls. She also stayed at the Fairmont YVR Airport and since she checked out more than 24 hours before the final checkout date, refunded the final day. Call ahead to confirm Calgary hotels will give a refund, some will, some won't.

Alberta may be less strict than other provinces for political reasons not for actual public health reasons. Other people report multiple visits and calls. It’s pretty disturbing to hear that someone coming from a country with a high incidence of covid is not being followed to make sure they are not quarantining appropriately. Not sure when our government will ever learn:rolleyes:

She tested a week before leaving, just to be safe, tested the day before she departed and also when she landed in Vancouver, all negative. Then day 8 was negative. I don't know what is so disturbing about that. The science experts commissioned by the government even said that the government's restrictions make no sense when actual covid incubation periods are taken into account. The experts also stated the mandatory 3 night hotel stay should be scrapped and replaced with a 10 day at home quarantine. But this forum is about immigration, not debating how we personally feel about how the government handled this pandemic. I was simply stating our own factual account of our experience.

On another note, I will say that anyone coming to Canada with the letter of authorization should also bring with them a copy of the notarized IMM006 form, because Air Canada would not allow her to board until I was able to digitally send her the notarized IMM006 form.
