Hello Seniors,

I have a job offer from an employer in Canada and his attorney is in process to apply for my work permit and temporary resident visa.

I am not sure about the entire process of the visa being granted, but he tells me, it'll take 9 weeks in total.
What I would like to know is: Are their any background checks or verifications done on the applicant in case of valid job offer and are their any background checks and verifications done on the employer before issuing the visa?
The employer says the LMIA will be applied for soon and the time of 9 weeks is for both LMIA and my work permit.

Can the checks and verifications delay the entire process and is 9 weeks the maximum time and the VISA can be issued earlier also?

Also, in case there is a document(s) missed out while filing for the application, does the VISA officials ask for it or do they just reject the application?

Thanks in advance.

LMIAs can easily take several months to process. 9 week is definitely not the maximum.

If there are documents missing, the application is typically rejected.

Thank you for the update.
Won’t the embassy/VISA office ask for the missing document, if any?
