Temporary Visa for baby in Canada?

Hi All,

I hope you can help.

I am working here on an IEC Young professionals Visa, and my partner and our newborn are here on a visitors visa currently.

My partner has an approved open work permit visa of which she wishes to activate in June ( needs to be activated by then) so as to start working this summer, but we're concerned as to how to get a visa for our baby. As far as we know, both our visas stipulate having no dependents.

Is there any way we can get an extended holiday visa for our baby, or have her linked to my visa in some way? We are trying our hardest to get the info, but we just can't seem to find it on the CIC website. Otherwise, we may have to consider leaving, which we don't want to do.

Would anybody have any experience of this? I'm hoping it could be as simple as getting an extended tourist visa for her, but then she wouldn't be covered by OHIP.
