I am a Canadian citizen (not residing in Canada) and I am suppose to start a post-doc position in Toronto soon. My wife&child are not citizens and I wanted to know what should be their status considering that we are not planning on immigrating to Canada (so we do not wish to apply for PR). Can she get a temporary resident permit? For how long? Where do we ask - before we arrive, at the boarder or after we are in Canada?
