Temporary file number

Jan 4 spousal sponsorship applicant here.

We recently in touch with a cic agent and were given a temporary file number. Can our application still be returned after getting this? Or is AoR pretty much guaranteed now?

I ask this because there was a bit of a snafu on my IMM 5406 so I've been wondering if my application might get returned.

My understanding is that the temporary file number means they've opened the application but not yet fully reviewed that it is complete or has any inaccuracies. So can probably still be returned if deemed necessary.

Yeah unfortunately the temporary file number is just that - temporary. In addition to what was mentioned above, I think that's how they keep track if your application does actually get returned (each time I re-applied they could see in the system when it had been returned before).
