Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this and please direct me if it has already been addressed and I've not found it.

There seem to be many California girls marrying Canadians on here :), I'm adding to the group. The background is this: I have applied for a study permit, current processing time is 4 weeks. I was also visiting my husband in Manitoba, with intent to apply for study permit and move temporarily, however he ended up transferring with work to BC, so we came down to see my family for the holidays and submit my application once we knew where we'd be. Now I have about 30 days remaining in Canada without a visa or some sort.

Since I was in the midst of temporary relocation before all this happened my intent was to return with him, but we were unable to submit the visa until the week before his work start date. For irrelevant reasons it's ideal I return with him now.

1. We are interested in bringing a few boxes alongside our suitcases driving over the border. Not an entire moving truck, but possibly more than $800 of his free import allowance since we will be importing my car permanently.
It bothers me to pay duty when I could take it for free eventually. Technically it's both our stuff (wedding gifts, Christmas etc) but they make you choose. Is it best to say it's mine and elaborate on our intent to follow the law, hoping it won't cause issue and I can bring it for free even though my visa isn't approved yet? Or call it his even though it's random kitchen items? I just don't want problems and to look suspicious like I might over stay my month.
Same note, I have the receipt and acceptance letter, could I bring it under those before or after officially entering Canada once approved?

2. Back to the car, I want him to be able to drive it, plus its over the 15 year mark, so we are permanently importing. I'm afraid this will raise questions about me overstaying my month left and not returning to re-enter on my visa. (I will not be returning to CA, just the states to satisfy requirements) The car is in both our names.

3. Should I make them aware of my limited time remaining? Should I just say I'm helping him move and then will be leaving in a couple weeks even though we're importing my car? Should I request a temporary visa of sorts to satisfy my time zone?

4. I have 30 days remaining and a 3.5 week processing time left. Should I be concerned it will take longer? (Probably) back to visitor visa. Entering Canada will not cancel my study permit app. Will it?

Any info or elaborations would be much appreciated. Thank you! Happy new year!
