I have been admitted to an MBA program and plan to open a GIC account. However, I have come across a requirement by larger banks like CIBC stating that the wire transfer should come from my own bank account in my country. My sponsor, who lives in a different country, has already paid my fees. Can they open a GIC on my behalf in one of these 2 banks? or are there other banks that do not have this requirement? Please advise.
