Hi All,

I'm a student planning to apply as a federal skilled worker in 1-2 years (from overseas). I already have a quite competitive IELTS score. I'm now studying French and planning to get a second credential.
I'm having some doubts about my plans regarding work experience and ECA. I'm just wondering if anyone has been through my circumstance before. I would appreciate it if you can tell me whether I'm on the correct or wrong way!

Currently, I'm in a 4-year undergraduate program and will graduate in Summer 2022. Without any doubt, WES will consider it a bachelor's degree.
To get the two-diploma bonus, I'm now considering enrolling on a part-time college certificate program, which has been recognized by WES and seems to be equivalent to a 2-year college certificate, or at least a one-year program in Canada.

At the moment my questions are:

(1) I will be taking my bachelor's program and the second college certificate program at the same time. Will it bring me any problem?
(2) I'm planning to gain some work experience (foreign) before I graduate. If my skilled job(s) are paid and under the same NOC code, will the experience before graduation be recognized in my application?

Thanks!

Some users in this forum has shared their experience regarding this and they have said that they should have done the courses separately. Means they should have finished one course and started the next after graduating from the previous one.

There is no problem.
As the IRCC states
Student work experience
Work experience gained while you were studying may count towards your minimum requirements if the work:

  • was paid by wages or commissions
  • was continuous (no gaps in employment), and
  • meets all the other requirements of the Program
I am not a professional, Based on the previous experiences shared by some applicants in this forum I tried to respond to your query / concern

Appreciate!

I’ve been searching the forum for the case you’ve mentioned as well as reading IRCC’s explaination on two certificates again.

Unfortunately I didn’t find any page mentioning that :( The only relevant posts came from my keywords were queries about taking two programs under the same visa.

Do you remember more details about the posts so I can try to find them?

Much thanks for your patience!

I had come across those posts very long time ago even before i signed up here. maybe a google search can grab them better than this forum's search option.
