Hi everyone,

We are looking to land in Calgary on a permanent residence visa, and wish to take our two beloved staffy's (Staffordshire Bull Terriers) dogs with us does anyone have any experience of doing this, that could share it with us. We have found agency's that will arrange all the travel and paper work for us but I would still like to hear from someone who has already been through this. Is there anyone who can help.

Mnay Thanks Scott

I came to Toronto two years ago with a Work Permit and brought my two dogs with me (Yorkshire Terrier and Cocker Spaniel), it was pretty easy at customs, I brought the vaccination card and a letter from a Veterinarian stating the good health of the dogs, the custom officed not even bothered to look at the documents, just said go ahead, it was simple.

not all Airlines allow your pets to be on board.
which airlines did you choose?

Hi, my parents flew their dog out to Edmonton 7 yrs ago when they got their permanent resident visa. They used a guy who arranged all the flights, paper work and sky kennel, dogs from uk do not need to go into quarantine as no rabies here! As far as I can remember the dog needed a microchip and seen by a vet within 48 hrs of travel. The dog flew with air canada, Belfast-London-Calgary-Edmonton.

I too hope to move this year with my dog (weimaraner) to Vancouver Island. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow to get his rabies vaccine as he may have to go via Germany or USA where they have rabies. The vaccine needs to be given 30 days before travel.

Hope this helps

Hi Jnathan,

We came by Air Canada, so far the best airline to travel with pets, but it's not cheap. You need to check their website to see their requirements/restrictions.
