Hello guys. I got my study permit in November 2020. My program started in Jan 2021 and will finish in August 2022 (20 months in total). Now I'm taking online classes from outside Canada and planning to go to Canada in August since my university probably would deliver courses off-line since September. My questions are:
1. Does online courses taken from Jan to Aug from outside Canada count into the overall length of PGWP?
2. Will the 8 months distance studying have any effects on Express Entry points?
Please help! Thank you!

1. Yes.
2. You can claim CRS points (EE) for your program if at least 50% of it was completed inside Canada.
So, I have a follow up question.
I started my 2-year course in September 2020 and I'm currently in my 3rd semester which end on 13th August. 4th semester starts in January 2022.
The course has been done online and outside till now. Will be done in Canada from January 2022 onwards.

If at least 50% of it needs completed inside Canada, Does this mean I can't claim any of this education for points towards EE?
I know I can still apply for the PGWP.

Unfortunately you can't. You can however still apply under CEC after you work in Canada for a year after graduation.

But on the CRS calculator it just says
  • you had to be enrolled full time for at least eight months, and have been physically present in Canada for at least eight months
Does that not apply to me? Because, I will be in Canada for 8 month time period if I go to Canada in August 2021 and the 4 semester ends 22 April 2022.

According to IRCC, you need to complete at least half in Canada AND also be present in Canada at least 8 months. Here's a screenshot from their response to someone on Twitter:

What are the chances they will tweak this rule (they did tweak the PGWP rules)?
Considering most students can't even travel to Canada to comply.
I am kind irate that I lose 30 points to no fault of my own.

What if I come now during my 3rd semester (I'm only 3 weeks in)?

Why can't students travel?

IRCC has been adamant that they won't make changes to the CRS requirement, which is quite unfair in my opinion. They are saying even if you were in Canada and was forced to study online due to the sch closure, you still would NOT qualify for the CRS points if more than 50% of your study was online while INSIDE canada!

If travelling now will make 50% of your studies inside Canada, then it makes sense to go - provided your school has started or will start in-person in Fall.

I feel you. Makes no sense whatsoever  .

Well my school will be online for this semester. From August to January 2022 they are no classes and there will be a co-op period during that time.

I can't do co-op also due to my student coordinator wanting me to have a co-op work permit in hand to start.
She won't understand that I did what was told to me (from the college) and applied for the co-op permit when I put in the study permit application and both got approved.

She want's to apply from out side Canada which can't be don't.
