I'm an international student at george brown. I just finished the fall semester of a 3-year program.
I have a student permit and a visitor visa.

I would like to take this semester off to upgrade my highschool math classes for university.

How can I take this break, while remaining legally in Canada and then be able to enroll in university?

Once you stop attending George Brown, you can expect your study permit to be automatically canceled after 90 days.

I think you'll need to change your status to visitor as soon as you stop attending college (and obviously stop working if you're working right now). Once you're ready to join your university, you'll need to apply for a new study permit.

I called CIC and they said that study permit does not expire.

I have called them 3 times this week and every time they tell me something different.

Don't bother calling the help desk - they are useless.
