Pretty basic question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I recently received my Permanent Residency (Have been in Canada for 7 years - Study permit, then work permit before this), and was looking into applying for a super visa for my parents. Question is, can I apply on their behalf from Canada, or is the only option for them to apply from within their home country?

Thanks!

Super Visa can only be applied outside of Canada. You have the option to apply online in Canada but their application processing will be outside Canada.

Can you elaborate on that?
I can fill out their application online here as their representative but they would have to submit their passports and whatnot in their home country for processing?

Yes. On the visitor visa application, it will ask for country of residence which would be where your parents are living currently. That is how CIC will know where to send their online application to the nearest CIC processing center. Once the Super Visa is approved, CIC will issue a letter of passport submission and will let them know where to submit passport.

Gotcha! Thanks for the help.
Follow up question (I guess this is a somewhat subjective question), but is there any benefit to me applying for them versus them applying themselves? (Outside of saving them the hassle lol).

It depends. Would your parents scan and email you the documents needed to apply online or would they want to go to the VAC center near them and submit a paper application in person. Whatever is convenient but if it was me, i would do it for them online because i can track their application through the mycic account rather than tracking through the VAC center.

Yeah it would probably be easier for me to do that.

Thanks for your help man, really appreciate it.
