Hello,

There is this huge confusion about showing 1 or 2 years of expense for study. So I am requesting successful applicants, who showed just 1 years of expense, to post here with the following details:

1. Expense of your study+stay in Canada
2. How much you showed
3. Self-funded/sponsored
4. Proof of funding for second year
5. Properties

In India student only have to show one years of expense by taking an education loan under the SPP programme. But I assume that you are not from India..In your case it is best to show as much funds as possible with a reliable source of those funds..even tho CIC's website official states that only one year of expense is required I have heard many cases from friends of different countries where their file was rejected for the cause of "insufficient funds".

I am from bangladesh and I did show 2+ years funding. But there are students who don't have fund equivalent to two years of living/study and hence this post is post is for them to get help from people who got their visa by showing just 1 year expense. Plus there is no SPP program in Bangladesh, only general application for student visa.

I was just giving my opinion and if you have 2+ years of funding than you should be able to get a visa if the immigration officer is convinced by your documents.

Yap I got that...thanks man...this thread is for opinions and anything is more than welcome :D

One of my friends friend was working in CHC, Islamabad 2 years back. According to him visa officers give preference to genuine students, (Genuine students are those who intend to study and then get back to their home countries). Canada is a country for immigrants and give importance to people who play vital role in their economy but They have set this criteria and rules for students.
He said they just check if an applicant has enough funds available for 1 year or not. They are not in interested in individual's financial situation but a student must have enough funds available for 1st year of studies. He said paying a part of fee is plus before applying for visa.
Mentioning full fee n other expenses is no doubt a plus but for those mentioning 1 year fee wont be a problem.

I have seen cases where people show the exact amount of expense (like $40,000 required for 2 years and they show $40,000 available) and get rejected. Why is that?
