But I have also heard debit card works.

But as back up get credit card from friends & family and better if have someone from CA.

I had used my debit card to make the payment. It was a TD Canada debit card.

This link says it can be Debit but only if its from Canadian bank. Will have to borrow Credit card, Im outland.

Yes, you can use your debit card for payment, provided your debit card allows international transactions..
