Study Visa to Canada - HELP!!

Hi - I am an Australian citizent and I have been accepted into a Masters program in Canada and I am currently waiting for my visa. Can anyone tell me if I am permitted to enter the country on a visitor's visa (with a return flight home of course) until my student visa is approved.

Sure - you can enter Canada as a visitor only. But you can't start your studies until you have been approved for a student visa and have had the student visa issued by immigration.
