Dear all,

this forum is great and it may be my last hope of getting advice.

I have some questions about study permit renewal and the following are some background information:

I am a student from Hong Kong and I was admitted by a university in British Columbia. I started my graduate study in BC in May 2006 and my study permit is valid until 30 Jun 2010, therefore I have to get my study permit renewed very soon.

Due to family reason, I returned to Hong Kong since Aug 2008 until now. During this peroid of time, I keep paying the tuition fee and have some course work in a university here (sort of exchange study).

My worry is, would the lengthy stay in my home country affect my chance of getting my study permit renewed (as canadian consulate may wonder why I leave Canada for so long time and whether I am still a student or i need the permit anymore....)

Besides, all the document needed for the renewal are ready including CAD 10000 bank draft, letter from university proving my identity as a student and my study need more time to finish). therefore the only concern is how the canadian consulate view my situation.

Also if I file the application for renewal from Hong Kong, would this do any harm to my applicaton. Because I hope stay in Hong Kong for some time longer so as to solve the family problem.

Please give me some advice.

Thanks a lot!!
