Hello,

My study permit got rejected on the 9th of March 21, due to

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.
• I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources to pay the tuition fees for the program of studies that you intend to pursue and to pay for living expenses while in Canada.

I had applied for flight training at Harvs Air on the 16th of September 2020, and was a 1 year program. I had paid about 10,000$ as the first instalment/tuition fees required for SDS program, but the total course of the program is $55,000.

IRCC had requested on 20th February 21 to pay the entire fees, $55,000, and I wasn't comfortable paying the amount all at once as its risky and since flight training is supposed to be pay as you go.

I really want to reapply, but NON-SDS is the route I have to take. How can I justify the reasons and go on for a reapplication ? Do I attach more financial documents ?
Anything suggestion would be helpful,

thank you!

Sorry to hear this. The main requirement to be eligible for SDS is to pay the full first year tuition upfront. Since your program is of one year, I believe you must pay the full $55k.

If you plan to apply through non SDS, you still have to show the full amount + $10k in cash and readily available. This can be done through bank statements, fixed deposits, savings certificates etc

The comment above covers most of it. Not sure if switching from SDS to Non-SDS will create a red flag about your financial capability but it shows that you aren't willing/or are not able to pay the tuition upfront.

$55,000 is a lot of fees for a one-year program. Your approach that you want to pay as you go would have been logical if it was 2 or more years of the program. IRCC gave you a chance to pay the fee and get the permit, which I always thought was the perfect scenario since SDS never made sense to me paying upfront without a guarantee of permit. But here they kind of approved conditionally if are were able to pay your fee.

To me, it shows like you are not sure if you will be pursuing this program once you are in Canada, might drop out or choose some other program. If IRCC messages me and says pay the full fee, I will do that. I am non-SDS myself. I would know my visa is approved if I pay the fee.
