If someone receives a study or visitor visa for Canada and overstays that visa by 1-2 years which means they have no status in Canada currently. Does that mean they are inadmissible on any grounds? They have not been asked to leave or to be deported.

Thanks

If the person is still inside Canada after 1 or 2 years with no status they are here illegally and very likely working to survive, which can cause major immigration issues later on. Just because the person has not been asked to leave or forcibly deported means very little. If this person wishes to keep immigration options open and available he/she should leave under own power immediately before it is found and person is deported.

Thank you for the response.

I understand that the person is in Canada illegally. But, are they currently inadmissible to Canada under any regulations? Or would that come into play if they were asked to leave?

No they aren't inadmissible to Canada unless being ordered to leave/deported. Chances of returning to Canada in the future is almost nil. In addition to being in Canada illegally, they must declare this to every country they visit and chances for them getting a visa is almost nil as it will prove that they are not a geunine visitor.
