Hey guys,
In August of 2019 I entered Canada with a study visa and begun studying at the University of Winnipeg. I am a US citizen and came from Florida. My wife also came with me at the same time, and she entered with a study visa of her own. My wife is a Finnish citizen and moved from Finland.
It's now January, and I have not found a job yet. Finances have gotten very difficult, and based on that, I have been thinking about returning to the US to work for a year and save some money in order to continue to pay for my tuition.
My biggest question is: If I were to drop my courses and immediately return home to work for 1 year, will I be able to reenter the country with my current study permit? I understand I will likely have to reapply to the University itself, but would I also have to reapply for a new study permit? I want to return to Canada and complete my studies, but I currently cannot afford the future semesters, let alone this current one.
My original correspondence letter stated that "you must seek entry to Canada to obtain your study permit by 2023/07/31" and the expiration date is also in the year 2023 (when my studies were scheduled to end).
Anyways, will I need to reapply for a brand new study permit if I return to the US to work and save money for school for 1 year?
Thanks
