Hello guys,

A brief background.

I've got an admission into a Canadian MBA program that'll start in March 2020, but I am also looking at b schools from other counties. The initial plan was to apply for a PR (alongwith my wife) and hope it comes in by the end of 2019. But my WES got stuck, and I'am yet to get my report while my wife has already received hers. If we wait for mine, I am almost sure that the PR application will not be processed in time for me to start my MBA program.

Now my question is this - Can I apply for a study permit (while I continue to explore b schools in other countries) while my wife applies for a PR and mentioned that I wont be accompanying her?

This won't be a misrepresentation as she would only be going to Canada if she gets her PR, and its highly likely that she'll be going there after I move to Canada for my MBA program. While I'll have to undergo medical and PCC even if we clearly mention that I won't be going with her, I feel this process is less complicated that getting anxious around Jan 2020 if we co-apply for PR and it gets stuck as my MBA program will be around the corner.

I want to understand if there's any issue in the way I am looking at it.

We'll tell our Verification Officer (for my wife's PR) that I am still exploring my options for getting my MBA next year, and may be in a different country for the next couple of years. Hence I won't be accompanying her.

Thank you.
