Study Permit extension received only for 1 month

Hello all,

My study permit was expiring at the end of November. So, I applied for an extension from Canada in early October. My study permit was approved within 6 days. My university issued a letter stating that I will be a student until August of next year. And my passport is valid for next 4 years. Moreover, I showed sufficient funds that will last me until the end of August of next year. But still I received a study permit until the end of the December (for ). I am not sure why this happened. If someone can give me some insight, it will be appreciated.

I still needed a couple of terms to finish off my studies.
