Hi,

I submitted a paper package for study permit extension which I never do but the online system was not working. My permit was expiring in a few days and I never thought I'd have problems submitting online because I had documents ready. So I ended up making a paper application, I read somewhere and told by a few people that, the date my local post office receives the package is the date they consider the application made. (which makes sense, in case of postal problems etc)
My permit was expiring on Jan 1st, I posted the package on Dec 30th. I tracked my package via Canada Post and it has been received on 7th by them.

I got two questions:
-I checked the online processing system, two days ago they started processing applications made on Jan 11th and I read on the FAQ of their site that it might take something like 10 days to submit the permit, and that's just an estimate that is %80 accurate. So my understanding is , I should receive my permit within 10 days from 2 days ago, meaning in 8 days from today. Is this a reasonable estimate or does it happen to people where it takes way longer than this?
-Second, is there a possibility that my application is not considered to be made the date the post office received my package and date stamped it? And is there a chance that I am risking paying a fine because of that?

I understand that it's one of the busiest times of the year for them and there might be delays but I am kind of worried because I really panic'd when the online application didn't work and maybe I mistyped something, or did something of the sort. Maybe I am acting paranoid'ish here, I don't know :)

Any information is most welcome, thanks in advance.
PS: I use skype phone because my cell phone is not working at the moment, so I can't call their toll free number until Monday and the online application status checking doesn't work for study permits for some reason.
