Hello! I'm a student from Kuwait and I signed up for a scholarship in Canada, so now I am sponsored by the Kuwaiti government. I got an acceptance letter from Dalhousie University for an ESL course followed by a bachelor program.

I went to the nearest visa office on 1/August and turned in all the needed papers along with the passport. Also, my mom has a Syrian passport and she's accompanying me. She presented all the needed papers (note: she's financially dependent on my father) and her passport.

Here's the thing: the application is taking too long. Everytime I go to the tracking page, it says that it's still in Abu Dhabi's Canada visa office. What's could be the reason that it's taking too long?

6 weeks is not that long, it can take many months to get study permit. What did your mother apply for? Are you a minor?

Yes, I'm 18 years old.
I'm not sure what my mom's application is considered, but I think it's a visitor visa.
The thing is that most of the Kuwaiti student sponsored with me got the visa earlier and are now in Canada, that's why I'm worried.
I hope the process is normal!

Possibly because your mother is in your application it is taking longer, also the country she is from probably means more checks.

Hello! I forgot to write back, but we both got our visa about a week after this post! I guess all you have to do is be patient and let the normal process go at ease. Don't worry.

Have a nice day everyone and good luck!
