I presume you are asking whether you can use your IELTS for further studies. From what I read in this forum, most schools ask for academic IELTS. The best is to email individual universities or colleges and ask them. Congrats on the score.

No, you will need to take the Academic version for studying. The General Version of the Exam is for immigration purposes.

Academic – Institutions of Higher and Further Education
The Academic format is for those who want to study or train in an English-speaking university or Institutions of Higher and Further Education. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the results of the Academic test.

General Training – for school, work or migration
The General Training format focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts. It is for those who are going to English-speaking countries to do secondary education, work experience or training programs. People migrating to Australia, Canada and New Zealand must sit the General Training test.

Thanks all,

It means all of us [mostly] who wish to migrate to Canada need to go for Academic IELTS as well, to continue enjoying the same or little less status what we are now. Need to go for any Canadian college degree.

I heard that academic IELTS could be used for Immigration but IELTs general could not be used for Study.

Still you can ask to individual University.....Congrats for your score.

As we get the PR, it is obvious that we are as good as citizen, and hence shall be treated at Canadian. So for further studies they will not ask for any lenguage proof [We already prooved that we are capable]

How about for those who are internationally eduacated immigrants who will undergo bridging programs in Canada to get the Canadian equivalence of their degree, which IELTS is required? Thanks.

I presume academic IELTS but have no idea. no experience in this. There could be some universities that ask for proof of language in which case any test may be okay but i don't know any such universities in Canada.
