I wanted to know whether we should take academic or general test for IELTS?
Anyone can give some online links for the study material for IELTS.

The 5 sample tests CDs that come with a book while registering for IELTS General Test are the best. I had used only that and practiced couple of times...it worked...8.0 bands overall...

You can take academic or general both r now acceptable.

Take the general man it is way easier, and all you need is to understand the test model, u can check a few books from Cambridge, i used IELTS 7 and 6, they r the best, just do the tests as much as u can and u will be good to go.

Check out following links. they are not study materials, but very useful tips to bring up your scores. there are some other related clips, please check them out too. Trust me, they do really help. As you know, British council library has the best source of study materials. Use those with latest editions.

Upon registering for IETLS exam. I registered through IDP and they shown me 5 books of which I need to select 1.

Is IDP in India?? because I dont think all of us can register through IDP. I have to go to the British Council here in Kuwait, in order to register for the IELTS. We dont get offered any books.
