Hello,

I am going to study at Georgian@ILAC College in May. which is located in downtown,

Really confused about which areas I should focus on looking at when it comes to renting. My budget is really low and we'll be staying as two, with my wife.

Open to your guidance, thanks.

Do you want to use public transportation or walk to school? If budget is really low, what is it? Do you want a one bedroom or share with others? Are you willing to take public transportation for hours is budget is low?

Look at the rentals around the school and decide if within your budget. Then move outwards taking into account transportation, and how long it will take to get to school.

Since you have a study permit, is she working?

The budget is around $1300, she'll work full time and that is the tricky part for us since she needs to find a job, do we need to find a job for her firstly and then the place we rent or the opposite, firstly the place and then her job.

Why don’t you book an airbnb for a few weeks and then you can figure out where you want to live. This way she can look for a job. Is this just rent? $1300 is not a lot for Toronto.

This budget is only for the rent, we are considering booking an Airbnb on the first month but that is another confusing thing, Airbnb's are much more luxurious, they are also furnished, usually, electricity is paid by the owner but still cheaper than renting one-bedroom condos or basements and you don't need to sign a lease agreement.

Why people aren't renting Airbnb for a long period of time? Am I missing something?

Most Airbnbs aren’t available for long term rent. Thought the max. number of days was 28. Local laws may limit. I don’t see any Airbnbs for a one bedroom for $1300. Most are shared bathroom, no kitchen…just a room
