Hi

My longterm girlfriend from Brazil recently had her student visa for Canada rejected. We've talked about marriage for a long time and now we are finally going to do it! We've done the research into what is required - and it is not easy, but we know what we need to do.

I am concerned though, that if we get married too quickly after the student visa rejection, that Canada will simply see this marriage as a "marriage of convenience".

How long should we wait until we get married?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it really matters as you could've had it planned all along. Not to mention, you have been talking about it for a long time now. As long as your relationship is genuine and you can prove that it's genuine I don't see there being a problem. It might create a bit of a red flag, but after you show the officers pictures, phone records, facebook posts, chat logs etc etc over the months/years then I'm sure it'll be okay.

Goodluck!

It doenot matter and won't effect the application for her visa in future,u guys can jus simply say that we thought its right time for it so we did it !
