I am supposed to start my studies in Montreal next week, I have been living here as a worker so applied for my student visa online. I've been approved for my CAQ, but the federal (CIC) part of the visa is still processing and I only have a couple days before I need the visa to start school. I know that as a US citizen, I am permitted to apply for a student visa right at a port of entry into Canada, so I am wondering if I should find a way to get to the border so that I can be sure to get my visa in time.
I am not sure if applying again for the student visa at the border will just confuse my application. (I don't have an easy way to get the border, so I also want to avoid going if unnecessary, as I assume my student visa will arrive very soon).
