Hi all,
I am planning to renew my student permit and have few questions as my situation is bit awkward.
I've entered Canada on October 2015 initially for a one year certificate program (officially from Oct 2015 to Sept 2016) and have successfully finished the certificate.
As my original intention was two year diploma program at the same school (I initially applied with this program; however, the program intake was cancelled right before I applied for student permit, so I took an alternative for the certificate), I am transferring into 2nd year of the two year diploma.
The problem is that 2n year intake will be Sept 2017, and my student permit expires in Jan 2017.
So I applied for one year (open-ended) certificate (which is still related to what I am studying), and got accepted.
In this situation, to extend my student permit, should I apply with one year certificate for now and re-apply for 2nd year of the diploma near Sept 2017?
Or will there be a chance to apply for both program at the same time with explanation of what has happened and get the study permit extension until Aug 2018 (which is the end date for the diploma).
One thing is that one year certificate that I will be taking from Jan till I get to the 2nd year diploma is something that I want to build up my skills and knowledge on my career and major.
Will this be accepted as a valid reason for CIC to approve the application?
Basically, I'm applying for a study permit extension with TWO programs which one of them will start at later of next year in advance.
Any idea, advice and sharing experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
