Hi everyone...

I'm a bit confused about my student permission under the new law.

So, I just got it in the mail and also got (separate letter) a work permission.

What I understand, the student permission under the new law allows students to work (I believe) off-campus. I mean, it's equivalent to the previous off-campus work permission, but now it's all included in the "new" student permission.

So, my student permission says "allowed to accept employement at the educational institution", which was already standard since before the law change in June 1st.

My confusion is because, the work permission that I got as well, says my employer is the college that I'll be attending as a student(!) and it says I can't accept employment from any other employers. So, yeah!!!? It just seems redundant!

Why would I get a work permission for the college I'll be attending, if the student permission already grants me that??
And where is a "permission to work off-campus" that I'd be allowed to have??

My school is a designated one under the new law, in case that helps with clarifications.

Or am I just missing something here? It is the first work permission I ever receive, so I'm not sure if it's correct and I have to talk with the College (which I'm going to regardless), or is this just a very odd situation and I should call CIC or something else?

Any input is greatly appreciated!!
