my wife is canadian and living here in the uk,how long can she stay out of canada before she has to return

:?: Is she a landed Immigrant or born canadian citizen? Because until one becomes a Canadian one cannot go away as long as one wishes and it is not in every country that you can stay as long as you want. As I want to go to Africa and I have to find out how long I can stay.
