I am a PNP nominee of Newfoundland and Labrador and will be making my first landing. I would like to know if there are any risks if I land in Toronto and stay there for a week or so and then move to my destination city in NL? What should I have as a proof to show to the immigration officer?

Not an issue. Show your airfare to St Johns.

There are no risks. You have entitlements and freedom in this great country to go where you please. However, in this context, yes be prepared to show reasonable evidences including flight ticket, lease arrangement, job offer etc. You simply need to be honest and say you're wanting to explore Toronto before starting your life in NL. They won't do anything. I'm not even sure why people bother asking.

The only time it's a risk is if you say something stupid to an officer like: "Yeah I exploited NL for PR but my intention was always to live in Toronto."
