Stay in Toronto

hi,
I'm traveling to canada on 17th august on student visa. And i got admission to CBU, nova scotia, canada for September intake. I had booked my flight such that i have a stay of 3 days in Toronto and my flight to nova scotia is on 20th August. I have heard that it is problem if we don't reach our destination directly. Kindly clarify

What country are you from? Is it actually possible to get a direct flight to NS?
