Statement of Purpose (SOP) for SDS Application

Hello everyone! I would like to ask if it is necessary to submit SOP for my SDS application?

I have already lodged my application without it, I just uploaded all of the required documents and forms.

Will there be any issues with that? I've seen others who got their SPs without it.

what's the point of asking this question now? SOP is the single most important document. It's a one-way interview with your VO and gives you an opportunity to say whatever you want all the time in the world. Imagine having an interview and facing all those questions, instead you have time here with an SOP to clearly talk about yourself.

Not a big deal. I’ve seen tons of people getting visa without sop. If you have good academic standing and your program is relevant to your previous studies, sop isn’t going to make a huge difference!

It really does. Unless applying for a PhD or a masters from a very good school I would say that SOP is a necessity. Would suggest SOP for any student. It can be very simple depending on the circumstance.

I don’t believe that.. why isn’t sop required for sds then? None of my friends got rejected because they didn’t provide sop.

Although not required many are also denied when they don't include one. If you want to be on the safe side I would strongly encourage people to include one.

Actually, I already wrote SOP but hesitated to include it on my application as it might cause friction as it is not required.

I'll keep updating here on the thread once there's a movement with my application.

The decision is not made based on SOP. SOP has no effect on your application as it is not a required document. There's no problem including one, but it does not change the outcome if you don't include one.

Some offices like abu dhabi asks for it, many people have got visa after just revising their SOP after refusal

If it’s a refused case then sop is a must but if it’s a fresh case and you chose a relevant program, you don’t need one unless you want to attach it.

Just goto the IRCC website and look up what documents are required, SOP/Study Plan is one of them with questions that need answers in that SOP.
