What more can they really find if the FBI check came back clear anyways?

What's even funnier, is why do they bother asking for the report at all, when CIC/CBSA and the RCMP all have access to the FBI anyway? Once more, CSIS is one of the partners who completes the background and security checks -- you want to tell me that the Canadian CIA doesn't have access to the American CIA? They literally call each other on the phone! So, I ask, why bother?

That is an excellent point. Maybe trying to see how honest applicants are being. Isn't an FBI background check the most in depth background check in the USA?

No. I mean, it's really only for Police Clearance. The BG check will come from the CIA. When you order your case notes, they literally redact any page that mentions which agencies they are using, what info they found, etc. You will only see an 's.21' at the top right corner of the page. 's.15' if you've passed :).

Basically, BG is not just about criminality. They check out whether you worked when & where you said you worked, etc. Security ties into it, because they need to make sure you're not in a terror group (for example). So, they use intelligence agencies to find all this out. No doubt they will find the charge. Will it be an issue, probably not. But remember that it's always a good idea not to lie to the CIC -- chances are strong that they will (eventually) find out.

When we first started the process, I also did some digging and tried to figure out what each of these things were. I was surprised to find the level of detail they will go to, to verify a person. My wife's joke is that she is really that interesting that they are using an intelligence agency to validate her story -- they have to. Right? Anyway, I digress...

Oh yes! I fully intend to tell them about it! I do not want to start off by lying to them!!

Do you need to know the exact dates you started each job? I can't remember the start / finish dates for each job I have had over the years. Is an approximate date good enough?

Month-Year. When filling the forms out, they only ask for Month-Year.
