Hi,
I am starting my application to sponsor my husband and three children. We live in UK. I have Canadian citizenship. Two children are 19 and 21, full time students in UK. The third is under 13. I've read the guide 5289, but suddenly got so confused.
I believe I apply under Family Class, fill in 1344 July 2016 application form and check list form. Pay the fees, etc.
Am I right?
What other forms do I have to fill in?
Could somebody please shed some light here?
Many thanks in advance!

GO TO THIS WEBSITE. YOU WILL FIND ALL THE INFORMATION.

Hi, Thanks!
It is just too much information at once. I read it all but little bit confused.

Is this the check list for IMM5287E.pdf

How and when did you become a Canadian citizen? If you were born in Canada or naturalized as a Canadian before your children were born, they are Canadian.

Hi,

I am born outside Canada to Canadian father. I got it by birth, but applied for my citizenship certificate just some 5 years ago. All my children were already born. Hence, I cannot transfer it automatically to the third generation before applying for PR.

The current dependent age is still under 19, so if you apply now, your 2 older children cannot be included in the application.

There is a proposal to increase the dependent age to under 22 but there is no set date for when this will happen. The last information I saw on the IRCC website stated that if approved, the change would happen in the fall of 2017.

Unfortunately, depending on when and how the change is implemented, it is very possible that your oldest child will never qualify as a dependent.

Are you sure???
I searched a lot and got the notion that they are able to get it if they are still dependent on me and in full time education?

She will be 21 on 18th on January, not yet... If I apply asap, and they receive it on time... I read until they become 22.

That's under the old rules. As of right now, dependents are children who are 18 years old or younger. Two out of your three children are too old and can't be included. As explained, the Liberals have promised to change the age back up to 21 - but this hasn't happened yet and we don't know when it will. So for now, the dependent age is 18 and younger. And yes - we're sure.

If the law changes back to 21 (Under 22) sometimes for example in August, September? Will I be able to apply then, before she becomes 22 on 18. January, 2018?

Yes, if the age limit is increased before she turns 22, you could sponsor her.

Hi,

Finally the law changed about the age of dependent child increased to under 22. My daughter is 22 on 18th of January 2018.

I had very little time to fill in and send off the aplication form for sponsoring my family, husband and 3 children, including the eldest mentioned above.

I have sent my application file today to Mississauga.
I completed it fully and I hope they don't return it and cause delays before18th of January 2018.

Any more cases here, similar to mine?
Regards
