Hello,

I was admitted to York University in Toronto for the upcoming winter 2019 term. I'm a US citizen and I intend to move at the end of this month and apply for a study permit at a port of entry. I have most documentation prepared, but I am very concerned about proving financial support. I have a letter from my school saying my tuition has been funded, but they only will fund the current semester.

My estimated tuition per year on my acceptance letter says $23,663.70 CAD.
My student account has a balance of $13,192.70 CAD, which is my tuition cost for my winter courses.
The award letter I received states that I am eligible for $17,650 USD ($23,613.85 CAD at the time of writing).

The letter states that I am attending York University for the winter term, and their financial services told me the amount they quoted in the letter includes tuition for the winter term plus living expenses and other education-related expenses. They are unable to award me funding for the spring term until the spring term becomes closer.

In addition to this, I can show a bit of money of my own (but not much), as well as paystubs from my job.

My question is: will this be enough to please an immigration officer? Can CIC issue study permits for less than one year, and if so, could I just receive a study permit from the winter term and apply for an extension afterwards? The school has awarded me enough funding to pay my $13,192.70 winter tuition fee plus a bit over $10,000 for living expenses, but since it's not a full year of tuition (and I don't know exactly how much the spring term would cost), I'm not sure if it would be accepted.

Thank you for your help,
Allie
