Hi everyone,

me and my wife have applied for PR under the CEC stream (I'm the main applicant). My application was received on May 30th, the draft was cashed on June 20th, but I still haven't received an AOR (I've sent an email to CIC to figure out why).

But now I have an opportunity through my company to be transfered to the US under an L1 visa. We really love and want to stay in North America, so having a permanent status in either Canada or the US is paramount to us.
I'm waiting for answers from HR, but it looks like they are open to apply for a Green Card for me, but not willing to put it in a contract, which means securing the Canadian PR would really be our safety net to be sure we can stay in North America mid-term.

So my question is now that we've applied for PR, can we leave the country ? Will it be an issue as we go through the next steps of the process ? Is there a possibility that during the landing the Canadian officer could see the L1 visa and consider it doesn't look like we want to live in Canada and deny the PR. I am trying to look at the worst case scenario to make as well informed a decision as possible, better safe than sorry.

I would appreciate any help, advise, past experiences, etc.
Thank you!

As you applied under CEC, the only condition when you become a PR is to meet residency obligations(i.e. spend 730 days in every rolling 5 years in Canada) to maintain your PR status. There is no expectation to proof that you intend to live in Canada at the time you land. It may be a different situation had you applied under one of the provincial nominee programs.

Thanks a lot SenoritaBella !
This is good to hear as my CEC application is taking forever, five months today and still no AOR....

I'd love to hear from anyone who was in the situation I described, to learn from their experience.

Thank you all.
