I am a mother of toddler and a baby from srilanka.i want to seek asylum in canda due to some problems in our country.how can i seek asylum.what kind of documents should i bring?

You have two options for claiming asylum. The first option is to get a TRV (tourist visa) to Canada and claim asylum when you arrive. To get an approved TRV, you must show strong ties to your home country (e.g. job, property, assets), show you have enough money to pay for your trip and demonstrate through your ties that you have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

The second option is to move out of Sri Lanka to another country and once you are there, be officially declared as a refugee by UNHCR. UNHCR will then decide where you will be resettled (to which country) - you do not get to chose.

Please make sure you have grounds for asylum. You must show that your life is at risk and you have attempted to solve the problem in your country including relocating.

You need to be able to prove your life is in danger and there have been threats made against you and your family. Police records etc. You also need to get a TRV to travel to Canada. Once you get that you can apply at the POE.

If the problems are not life threatening, you will find it hard with an asylum claim. if you also have the choice to move somewhere else in the country and be safe, your claim will be denied

Some are advicing me that i have to enter into canada airport without any document.is it fine?
Have you been personally affected by the changes in Srilanka or is it just a general perception that the problems are affecting you?

Do you have evidence that your life is in actual danger? That you have been threatened? Police records? Hospitalization?

Have you tried to relocate to another part of Srilanka. There are regions/cities that are not affected by problems in another part of Srilanka. For example, non-Tamil regions. If you have not tried to relocate to another city/region then you can expect your asylum to be refused

Actually my husband is business man.so some guys asking for money.we refused to give then they are threatning us if we didn't give money they will kidnap children.we can complain in police but they can easily come out with their political support.as a tamil people we don't have that much support here.

Unfortunately, you do not have grounds for asylum. It is more like a case of extortion and threats in business. Also, your fears are based on presumptions to some extent.

You should consider relocating to another part of Srilanka or else you can seek the intervention/support of associations to help you to find a local solution
