So my wife is a temporary worker and her work permit expired on Nov 30 2017. Along her MSP and SIN. We got married in May 2017

We have submitted a new extension application in late Oct 2017. (We submitted one in August along with the PR application but the work extension got returned to us because we had insufficient fees)

Currently she is working with implied status because she is waiting for her work permit extension to be approved. While she is waiting she can't travel outside of Canada or else she would lose her status. Since we also applied spousal PR as inland, she can't leave the country without the risk of being rejected upon returning. The main problem is that she doesn't have MSP at the moment. We talked to a lady over a MSP service and she said there is no other way she can have MSP which is not true (Base on what I read on the website).

I am a Canadian Citizen and according to their website my wife (who is now my dependent) are eligible for MSP while her PR is in process. Is this true?

Thanks

Most MSP agents are not familiar with the rules for coverage of a PR applicant. If I recall, the wait period starts from when IRCC accepts the PR app for processing. You may need to fight to get coverage.

What work permit did your spouse previously hold? If it was a PGWP or IEC, she does not have Implied Status as a worker.

If she doesn't have it, does it mean she need to stop working and leave the country right away??

And how long do we have to wait? and yes, she was on PGWP.....

We are kinda at a dilemma right now.

She needs to stop working but she has Implied Status as a visitor allowing her to stay in Canada. The OWP takes 3-4 months.
